Welcome to The Peaceful Retiree. We’re glad you joined us. And, of course, we’re hoping you include us in your weekly reading. It doesn’t matter if you’re years into retirement, just beginning Act 1 of your retirement passage, or you’re a decade away and want some thoughtful and peaceful insights and musings from experts. We’re delighted to be with you. This is the only retirement blog, or Digital Retirement Collective™ in the US that focuses on three very specific objectives.

The first is to provide readers with quality and award-winning writing from experts across the globe who are eager to share their stories, expertise, and thought leadership with you. Believe me, we need it. As the seven-time academy award-winning movie, directed by William Wyler, taught us, retirement should be The Best Years of Our Lives. And we’re here to make certain that happens for all of our readers, subscribers, and contributors.

Second, we want you to find as much peace, happiness, and gratitude in your retirement as possible. You deserve it. You’ve earned it. And we want to make sure no one takes it away from you. To that end, we’ll be offering you tips, reviews, insights, guidance, and a little bit of advice. But not too much advice, we’ve been on the receiving end of that for far too long.

And third, we want you to be part of this community. It’s strong, vibrant, enduring, and accepting. And we’ll do that in several ways. Most importantly, we want you to feel comfortable contributing your own thoughts and stories to The Peaceful Retiree. You can do that here: https://thepeacefulretiree.com/submit-article

You don’t need to be an award-winning writer, but we do encourage you to submit articles that fall into our content categories; more specifically, we want you to send us your handiwork on the following topics:

  • Any story you want to share about retirement that will be enlightening to our readers Perhaps some tips and pitfalls about transitioning into retirement
  • How you found peace and goodwill, a book you read that might pertain to retirees, and your review of it. The same for a movie, TV series, documentary, a music album. Now’s your opportunity to be a critic with national recognition. By all means, let us know what you think. This can also include an exercise program, a fitness secret, or gym you like
  • A travel itinerary you experienced that makes sense for retirees, and your thoughts about that
  • How you exercise your brain and keep your mental acuity razor sharp
  • And how you find time to be and feel included; perhaps it's volunteering, working a side-hustle, or how you socialize with others (not always your age)

In short, we want to hear from you, we want to read your story, and your perspective. That’s the first step in building The Peaceful Retiree community.

The next step, at least the way we see it, is to keep it all positive. There’s plenty of noise out there, but in here, our noise isn’t so deafening, so boisterous, and unrestrained. This is your safe harbor, away from the turbulent and choppy waters of the dirty ways of the world. Be here to relax, recharge, and re-ignite whatever might ignite you.

And lastly, share. Share this forum with your friends, family, insiders, outsiders, leaders, followers, homebodies, and the body politic. Share your stories and thoughts with us. Subscribe to our monthly newsletter. Most of all, share your joy, the peace you’ve found, and the secrets, workarounds, and the insights you discovered in your life of goodness.

"We are advertising free. We'll stay that way for as long as possible. That means you'll be reading in seclusion from ads, pop-ups, and web "takeovers" which have been known to drive a retiree, and plenty of others, to lose their minds. It also means we're sparing you from seeing ads about compression socks, Arizona oceanfront HOA properties, and gut-busting formulas that are more worthy of a gut-punch. Our readers read in peace at The Peaceful Retiree."

Accepting Retirement?

Our Contributing Editor, and broadcast Hall-of-Famer, Jim Arnold, has retired three times. He doesn't regret a single retirement decision and has found "peace" in his choices. Why wouldn't he? After all, his legendary broadcasting career began with his radio on-air name, "Sunny Jim Arnold".

Happiness Should Come From Helping Others

Our Contributing Editor, Paul Rudersdorf, who we favor as "Peaceful Paul", has a framed writing of the Dali Lama resting on his end table, which isn't actually Paul's end table, if you know Paul. Unlike The Rolling Stones, who couldn't get no satisfaction, Paul's the opposite. He's got satisfaction and he's on a roll. We're thankful Paul is never more than a stone's throw from some truly wonderful insights.

Are You Kidding Me; Planning For Retirement?

Our Contributing Editor, Bill Marks, didn't plan for retirement. Even at nearly 72 years old, he has no plans to retire, un-retire, transition, work less, work harder, or coast on the west coast. Maybe his plan is a plan after all. It's just that the "after" might not be at "all."

We Are Prepared, Are Your Kids?

Our Contributing Editor, Mike LaBarbera, has a bit of advice for our children and even our children's children. Money doesn't grow on trees and that's a deeply-rooted fact. Teach them young just as our parents taught us. But hopefully, we won't grow older with a Great Depression hanging over our heads as it did our parents. That was a life-lesson for the ages.
